Community outreach is an important part of what we do.
CIAMQG is looking forward to provide quilts of various sizes to these organizations with these very important missions:
Dorothy’s House, which provides long term, residential care to survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation
Children and Families of Iowa, who helps everyone from children who need a safe home to adults learning to cope with trauma
Individual members are encouraged to prepare quilts that can be donated to these organizations (submit with the Charity Quilt Intake Form below). Additionally, we will work together to be creating a variety of blocks as a guild to assemble into quilts for donation. Continue reading to see how you can participate.

Individual member donations.
Quilts that are collected as a guild will be donated to Dorothy’s House and Children and Families of Iowa. Feel free to donate to another organization that has a need for quilts. Regardless, please complete the Charity Quilt Intake Form below.
If you have a quilt top only to donate, please work with another member to complete the quilt (quilted and bound) prior to submitting the quilt for donation.
The Vice President (currently Ben Millett) will collect the quilts and store them prior to delivery. Members of the charity committee will oversee the distribution of the quilts to our partner organizations.
Leaf block quilts.
Members are invited to create as many leaf/feather blocks as they wish. Assembly of the leaf blocks into quilts with a modern layout will be coordinated during Sew Days.
You are welcome to use your stash to make these blocks. The only requirement is that you use a black/dark fabric for the stem and low volume for the background corners.
Community Outreach Quilts.
The Modern Quilt Guild encourages each local guild to participate in a yearly challenge to create a theme-based quilt that can itself be donated or for which the proceeds of its sale can be donated.
Below are quilts created by CIAMQG in response to those challenges or in memory of guild members who have passed.
The 2021 Community Outreach quilt has a theme of “Curves” and must use the colors shown here. More details about design and construction will follow.
