Workshops and Open Sew Day
During this open sew and workshop day, Stephanie Bracelin will teach two 3-hour workshops covering Y-Seams by Machine and her Orange Peel Overlay pattern. Participants can choose to partake in one or both workshops.
If spaces are still open as of November 1st, we will open the sewing space to non-member and those who would like an open sew day.
Workshops are being provided at a discounted cost during this event, with the guild receiving most of the funds.
COST: $25 per workshop OR $40 for both
Y-Seams by Machine Workshop: 9am - 12pm
Love the look of English Paper Piecing but not a fan of hand sewing? In this fast-paced and fun workshop, Stephanie shows students how to recreate the signature EPP style using a sewing machine—no hand stitching required! Students will dive into machine-friendly EPP patterns with straight lines and learn how to convert them for smooth, precise machine piecing. Stephanie will also share her go-to techniques for tackling and pressing y-seams with confidence. Acrylic templates will be available for use in the workshop.
By the end of this workshop, students will have created a bold, modern block perfect for stitching onto the back of a jacket, turning into a stylish pillow, or continuing into a striking quilt top. It's all the EPP charm—at machine speed!

Orange Peel Overlay Workshop: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
In this workshop we will work with orange peels that appear to overlap each other and create a transparency effect. Students will learn tips in sewing curves as we work through this curved design. Stephanie will also walk students a few different examples of how to achieve a transparency effect when using different colors with examples. There will be prep-work to cut fabric from paper templates to prior to piecing the curves in this workshop. By the end of this workshop students will leave with one 20 inch block, which includes an inset circle.
A pattern purchase is required for this workshop, and prep-work will need to be completed.
